University of Virginia Team Secures $3 Million Grant for Focused Ultrasound Research on Cerebral Cavernomas

The $3.1 million grant from the National Cancer Institute will be used to investigate using focused ultrasound to improve the treatment of cerebral cavernous malformations.
To build upon initial Foundation-funded studies, researchers will use focused ultrasound to deliver drugs to these abnormally formed blood vessels.

Comprehensive Review: Focused Ultrasound Blood-Brain Barrier Opening for Delivering Drugs to Gliomas

Researchers summarized the current use of focused ultrasound for delivering drugs across the blood-brain barrier for the treatment of gliomas.
The team analyzed 60 published studies plus 13 clinical trials, for a total of 73 projects.
