Liver Metastases Clinical Trial: Focused Ultrasound Plus Microbubbles Safely Delivered

Researchers conducted a clinical trial using focused ultrasound plus microbubbles to treat liver cancer.
The study enrolled patients undergoing chemotherapy for colorectal cancer with disseminated metastatic liver disease.
The focused ultrasound plus microbubble treatment was safe and feasible, and the group suggested larger studies to assess efficacy.

Alzheimer’s Disease Workshop White Paper Now Available

In June, the Foundation held a workshop to assess the state of the field and develop a roadmap for using focused ultrasound to treat Alzheimer’s disease.
The presentations, discussion, and action items have now been summarized in a white paper.

Application Deadline Approaching: The Andrew J. Lockhart Postdoctoral Fellowship in Focused Ultrasound and Immuno-Oncology

This one-year fellowship will pair an early-career scientist with a leading laboratory to foster focused ultrasound immuno-oncology research.
The recipient will receive a $75,000 stipend, and applications are due September 15.
The Lockhart family established the fellowship in 2021 in memory of their son.

Rosie Xing, PhD, and Jessica Chao at The 5th Yangtze International Summit of Minimally Invasive and Noninvasive Medicine

The 5th Yangtze International Summit of Minimally Invasive and Noninvasive Medicine was held July 8–9.
More than 500 participants attended the summit, which covered a wide range of topics from gynecology to cancer treatment.
Foundation Chairman Neal F. Kassell, MD, delivered a virtual keynote address.

Meeting Report: Alliance for Advanced Therapies in Orthopedics (ATiO)

The Alliance for Advanced Therapies in Orthopedics Conference 2023 was held May 18–20 in Berlin.
It is attended by researchers, clinicians, regulatory agency professionals, industry representatives, and investors.
Mario Fabiilli, PhD, presented a 15-minute talk on orthopedic applications of focused ultrasound.
