Gene Therapy Breakthrough in Parkinson’s Disease

A preclinical study led by Prof. José Obeso used focused ultrasound plus microbubbles to deliver gene therapy across the blood-brain barrier (BBB).
Gene therapy has incredible potential to prevent, stop, or treat Parkinson’s disease.
The gene therapy reached the target areas, and BBB opening was temporary, safe, and well tolerated.

Senator Thomas Daschle Joins Foundation’s Council

Thomas A. Daschle served in the US House of Representatives and the Senate and became a longstanding Senate Democratic Leader.
He is now founder and CEO of The Daschle Group, where he advises clients on national issues.
The Council is a dedicated group who provide advice and assist with raising funds and building awareness.

The panelists discussed the state of the technology for Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, liver cancer, and prostate cancer.

A New Tool to Diagnose Parkinson’s Disease

A recent international study found that physicians can diagnose Parkinson’s disease (PD) by testing a patient’s spinal fluid.
PD is currently diagnosed through neurological tests and by ruling out other conditions.
If this diagnostic method is widely adopted, physicians may be able to diagnose PD earlier and better monitor disease progression.
