Focused Ultrasound Improves Liquid Biopsy Results in an Alzheimer’s Disease Model

Dr. Hong Chen’s research team has completed a preclinical study using sonobiopsy (liquid biopsy) to improve the quantity of biomarkers released in a model of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
The method significantly increased two biomarker levels when compared with conventional methods.
Sonobiopsy could help diagnose AD and other neurodegenerative disorders.

Meet the Expert: Gail ter Haar, PhD

Professor Gail ter Haar, PhD, is a renowned expert who works at the intersection of focused ultrasound and physics.
She leads the therapeutic ultrasound team at The Institute for Cancer Research, which was designated the Foundation’s first Center of Excellence in Europe.
Her team is involved in a Foundation-funded trial using focused ultrasound to resolve twin-twin transfusion syndrome.

Now Accepting Applications for 2023 Summer Global Internships

The Foundation’s Global Internship Program allows high school and college students who are interested in focused ultrasound to conduct research with esteemed mentors in the field.
Applications for this three-month summer research experience will be accepted through April 29.
