This study is currently happening in canine companion animals only, but the hope is that lessons learned from our canine experience will help in the development of this technology for humans.\u00a0\u00a0This novel technology focuses beams of ultrasound energy precisely and accurately on targets deep in the body without damaging surrounding normal tissue.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How it Works<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Where the beams converge, focused ultrasound produces&nbsp;a&nbsp;therapeutic effect that&nbsp;is&nbsp;being evaluated.&nbsp;The targeted tissue is treated with thermal ablation, which results in localized tissue destruction and possible immune&nbsp;benefits as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The primary options for treatment of\u00a0lymphoma are very limited.\u00a0For\u00a0certain\u00a0animals, focused ultrasound could\u00a0provide\u00a0a noninvasive alternative\u00a0to current care, with potentially a better outcome.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Advantages<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Focused ultrasound is noninvasive, so it does not carry added concerns like surgical wound healing or infection.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Focused ultrasound can reach the desired target without damaging surrounding tissue.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It can be&nbsp;repeated,&nbsp;if necessary.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-clinical-trials-nbsp\">Clinical Trials&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At the present time, there are no clinical trials recruiting patients for focused ultrasound treatment of&nbsp;lymphoma.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Foundation updates these pages regularly, but with the increasing number of clinical trials, we want to be sure that our audience has the latest information available.
